ManakoMahotle has an extensive and varied Town Planning and development experience gained both in the private and public sector. She began her career in 1990, as an Assistant Town Planner at Pinto-Roux Architects and Planners. In 1992 she joined the Umtata office of Plan–It Inc, then a major consulting firm in the then Transkei as a planner and one year later was promoted to the position of Company Associate responsible for managing the Umtata based office. She later became a Managing Partner at the Johannesburg based Matingi& Associates in 1995.
After working 6yrs in Planning Private consultancies, in 1996, she began her Local Government career at the Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality as Senior Planner and was shortly promoted to the position of Principal Planner. In 1998, she joined Ekurhuleni Municipality as a Senior Planner responsible for al the planning functions and Local Economic Development (LED) in the Southern part of Boksburg.
She became team leader of the Land Use Task Team, an interim body responsible for transforming the Land Use Management (LUM) function of the City Development department and later in 2002 became Interim Director and was appointed in 2003 as Director LUM. As director LUM she was instrumental in transforming the policy environment as well as standardise processes, coordinating and facilitating the creation and operation of both Statutory and non- statutory decision-making bodies. She also played an active role in the establishment of a new planning legislative framework for Gauteng Province.
She received an award for “the most outstanding contribution to the Metro transformation,” at Ekurhuleni Metro, 2003.Membership of Professional Bodies: South African Planning Institution (SAPI); South African Black Technical & Allied Careers Organization (SABTACO); Association of Municipal Town Planners (AMT).

Mpho Nenweli is a well read, well travelled and highly experienced Environmentalist. He began his career as a Supplemental Instructor at Vista University in 1998. In 2001 he joined KNA Consulting Engineers as an Environmentalist responsible for compiling EIA applications. In 2003 he was employed by the Western Cape Provincial Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning as an Environmental Officer, handling EIA reviews for inter alia dams, roads, petrol stations, cellular masts, wine cellars, shopping centres, residential areas, etc, and was promoted to the position of Senior Environmental Officer in 2003.
He became Assistant Director in the National Department of Social Development in 2004. In 2005, he became Deputy Director: Local Integrated Development Planning in the National Department of Social Development. He later became Deputy Director: International Population Affairs where he was involved in inter alia, facilitating and managing the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of South African international strategy on population and development.
Mpho also worked as a National Programme Manager for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) where he was in charge of projects on renewable energy, climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, international waters and biodiversity conservation between 2009 – 2012. He is currently studying for a PhD on climate change adaptation at the University of Witwatersrand.
